In a quaint little corner 5 minutes from Rosebank we found J&B’s Union Bar. Well we did’t really find it so much as we were invited but it was all round delightful regardless. When I imagine Joburg night life, the Union bar is the exact setting I picture Joburgers rome and roll around in. The venue itself could be a basement but the furnishings by Art director Jacques Mollentze created that inverbable balance of sophisticated but youthful trashy and wild. The spot looked like it was straight out of a magazine and all of Joburgs instalebs certainly made it look like it was.

Aside from the dangerously seductive décor and mix of people and Music, the food and the drinks were so inducing I’m dying to go back just to try the beef and potatoes with pepper. I’m not much of a foodie so imagine the serendipity in finding the most simple but peculiar combinations of foods. The drinks we as invigorating and as they were instagramable, which we all know is as important as the other.

Out with the old, in with the new. Say good bye to wasting hours on end putting in rollers to get that perfect voluminous, curly hair. Introducing obsessed and their new brush set.

The lovely ladies at obsessed were wonderful enough to show us how their brush set works. The process is super simple and easy and will be great to do at home.

The obsessed brush set consists of brush barrels with a detachable handle to create curl and volume. Wrap your hair around the brush, add some heat with a blow-dryer, unclip the handle and voilà; the perfect blow out. You can leave the brush wrapped around your hair, so your hair can set.

The brushes make it so easy to create volume and curl and its way faster than using rollers and more forgiving on your hair than a curling iron.

The set is super portable and comes with:

6 barrels /3 different sizes
1 detachable handle
6 clips
2 hair holders
And a teasing brush

Check out some pics from our demo:

Down the stairs and across the floor leading to the dazzle, the glitz and the glamour of the catwalk. Stoneridge mall was the venue that played hosts to a select audience for the launch of the Rare Sparkle Cancer Collection.

The fashion editor of People Magazine, Ms Susan Mukendi unveiled her personal collection in evening filled with spectacular live entertainment and the ever amazing Master of Ceremonies; Ms Naledi Moleo.

If you like chic, sexy, sophisticated or you want to own the floor at your next cocktail party, than you need to have an item from the Rare Sparkle Collection hanging in your dressing room. It is more than just a dress, a skirt, a blouse, or a pants. The Rare Sparke Collection is a selection of masterpieces with a message, and every piece has the artist emotion and passion delicately weaved through the satin fibre.

Ladies, we all understand breast cancer, brothers and sisters, mums and dads, we are all aware of the “sentence” that Cancer brings into our lives, but Susan Mukendi has found a way to help survivors showcase triumph and share hope with its audiences. Every item in the collection is set to be conversational piece to add to your collection.

I was privileged to have a few minutes with Susan Mukendi, the artist and creator of the collection…She has passion, she has talent, and she is only getting started….

Luxury brand, Salvatpre Ferragamo, celebrated the opening of its renovated flagship store in South Africa, located at Sandton City's diamond walk, at a lavish ceremony on Wenesday the 10th of May. Kirsten and Leah Houston was there to check out this fabulous store.

The renovated store mirrors the modern structural and architectural aesthetics that the Italian luxury brand has currently injected into its DNA. The elements used in the store’s renovation reflect the new creative direction the brand has been reinforcing as of late. Ferragamo’ s current footwear director, Paul Andrew, mirrored that sentiment in an interview earlier this year, saying: “This is not about a reinvention, but about reintroducing the brand to a new generation of women, while not alienating or forgetting the existing client, The way we are going about it is based on Salvatore’s original mindset, which was all about creativity and innovation. All the ingredients were there, so we wanted to rework these elements in a totally new way.

The store originally opened in 2000 originally, is the brand’s largest South African location. The renovated space now has a footprint of 203m². The newly renovated space features the full lifestyle brand experience of men’s and ladies products, across the full collection of shoes, accessories, RTW, accessories, watches & perfumes.

The store itself is stunning but the items of sale are to die for. From classic handbags to gorgeous shoes, it's a little piece of heaven.

Next time you are at Standon City, be sure to pop in and check out this store. It's a must visit!
