Fashion & Beauty from South Africa

With the month of August coming to an end, a few beautiful South African babes are sharing what their most loved items were for the month of August. Check them out down below and be sure to follow them.

Chanel Heeralall

Chanel is a 20 year old, third year medical science student with a love for fashion. Here are her August favourites.

Throughout August I have been obsessing over the following fabulous items...the first item I've been loving is my new fossil watch which my dad purchased whilst in Germany. This classic yet modern timepiece adds a dash of sophistication to any outfit, night or day. The second item that caught my eye are rings. This timeless piece of jewellery has been so easy to use everyday and even on those days when I want to make a statement

Watch: Fossil
Single rings: Aldo
Statement ring: Topshop
Balm stain: Wet n Wild ( Available at Clicks)
Eyeshadows: Yardley
Wallet: Jo Borkett

The next item is my new Wet n Wild megaslicks balm stain in the shade caffiene fix. I love this balm stain as it looks great on any skin tone and its moisturising too! The fourth item that I now cannot live without is the yardley stayfast velvet quad eyeshadow in shade desert. This palette contains every nude eyeshadow a girl will ever need and it has an amazing texture. Lastly I'm so obsessed with my new Jo Borkett wallet. Its bright, vibrant and a perfect statement piece.

Nafisa Grey

Given the cold winter weather coupled with my tiring business schedule AND being a mum , taking care of my skin is something that I cannot ignore, and given my positive experiences with the La Mer skin care range to date, I opted to try out the La Mer Renewal Oil (even though I was a skeptic as I’m not one for anything oily!) I was pleased to discover that the La Mer Renewal Oil is actually less of an OIL oil (it looks a lot oilier than what it actually is), and more of a serum-0il-elixir, which means that this is a much more comfortable product to use, if you generally shy away from oils.

The oil which I found to be too light to be used by its own, was coupled with my day and night moisturizer, and the results were my skin feeling noticeably calmer, more even-toned, and more hydrated  (which was a huge plus in winter). The product when mixed with your day moisturizer creates a perfect base before make up application, and the oil mixed with your night moisturizer leaves your skin feeling refreshed and supple before bedtime.
Skin care for me is an ABSOLUTE MUST and I’m very fussy about the products that I introduce my skin to … which results in me reading up on its ingredients and investigating other peoples experiences with the product. I can therefore honestly recommend this product as a definite ‘tried and tested’ if you are looking to achieve a more hydrated, supple and nourished skin.

PROS:  lightweight texture absorbs quickly into the skin, Can be blended with your moisturizer for better effectiveness. Boosts hydration levels and keeps skin supple through the day.
CONS: Price
WHO WILL LIKE THIS: Anyone who prefers a lightweight textured facial oil
WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT: Stuttafords Sandton City (La Mer beauty counter)

STRETCH MARKS Ladies do you struggle with stretch marks? Look no further than "Dermastine" it works wonders, like most ladies I have them too caused by the gym, squating etc. From"getting bigger " or loosing weight!

It’s a cream, smells nice and it’s NOT sticky. Why it’s better than "tissue oil" is that it has more vitamins E in it, which will reduce the stretch marks more! Keep in mind, it will lighten them, not take it away!

After a warm bath or shower I will apply just a bit off cream in my hand, and rub on to my bums, that’s my problem area! But it will also work for  the thigh, stomach and breast areas. Dermastine is available at Dischem.

I love it.

Bianca Soupen

My ultimate favorite scrub right now . I literally can't live without it, and through those winter months I definitely needed my body to be moisturized and hydrated not only does this amazing scrub exfoliate the skin but lightens stretch marks as well in a matter of 3-4 weeks my skin was lighter in complexion and absolutely soft and glowing for those that are interested in trying it out head over to body blendz and check out their variety of scrubs honestly everybody girl or guy should have a bag.

Recently I was faced with the world's hardest decision, what new sneakers to buy?! If you have been to a mall recently you know there are thousands of sneakers to choose from, but nothing quite like the Reebok classics. They have been around since 1982 and I can truly understand why they have stayed in style for all these years, they are a godsend. Everyone needs a pair of classic whites to go with every outfit. If you're going for the street style look, gangster chic or even the "I just woke up like this" look , these shoes will help you slay the day, just like they do for me. I purchased my pair from the Reebok factory shop in Woodmead.

Personally I have found that Dove soap has been the most gentle and affordable, skin improving everyday soap that leaves an incredible scent. I have used this soap for months and have seen amazing results. Instead of using a sponge I have recently bought a volcano rock for less than R20,00 that gently exfoliates the skin from Dischem.

Hi guys, my name is Christelle, I am currently a third year law student, which is pretty black and white which is why I use fashion as my personal outlet to express myself. I love playing around with different styles and colours and I'm extremely adventurous with my style and day to day looks. I would describe my style as individually chic with a sprinkle of sophistication. I'm also a die hard fan of makeup and love sharing my different looks with people.

Today, I will be reviewing a few of my favourite LA Girl Products.

LA GIRL ULTRA EYESHADOW COLLECTION

I'm obsessed with the variety of looks you can achieve from this one palette I've managed to get all of them (they sell out super fast) and I'm very pleased with the results, the ultra brick consists of 12 shades highlight, transition and dark, each colour has a bit of shimmer and are super pigmented, the set comes with a brush that works fairly well, the best part is that the colors show up on darker skin tones as well and lasts all day. The packaging also makes carrying the palette around with you really convenient especially if your fond of getting your makeup done at work or on the go.

LA GIRL GLOW BLUSH COLLECTION

The blush palettes comes in glam, glow and spice, I've decided to review the glow palette because it's the most unappreciated but most wearable on a day to day basis, let's face it there isn't always time or energy to contour or bronze to the heavens but we do need to look alive this is where the glow brick fits in. The palette is made up of 4 pans, 2 peachy blushes, a matte bronzer and a champagne highlighter which can be used on a day to day basis or to compliment a more dramatic eye look. Colours compliment light to medium skin tones and more wearable during the day, it provides that extra pop to your face when your in a rush.

LA GIRL MATTE FLAT FINISH PIGMENT GLOSS:

The first thing your notice is the range of colors it's amazing!!!! There's definitely something for every lip pigment wearing lady around. I wanted all of them but as usual they sell out so quickly it's so difficult to get your hands on all of them at once!, so far I've gotten about 6 and I have to say they don't disappoint. The pigment of each colour is exceptional and being a drugstore "gloss" lasts a decent amount of time before a touch up is required, once applied and dried down transfer is minimal and all for a very reasonable price. The 2 colours I've being loving recently are timeless which is a pinky colour with a berry like undertone to it and dries a bit lighter than the pigment itself and makes you feel dressed without much effort at all, the second colour is stunner which is a neon purple and is amazing for that fun party look, it is a bit shocking at first but it certainly does grow you.

LA Girl Ultra Eyeshadow Collection, LA Girl Glow blush collection, LA Girl Glosses.

I hope you guys liked this review and that it helps you to find the perfect LA Girl product for you. LA Girl is available at Dischem stores nationwide.

Todays fashion feature is on the beautiful Nina Lomahoza. Nina is a specialist business analyst and a member of the Cape Town Business Women's Association. She is truly passionate about women empowerment and spends her time mentoring others. We love this about her, she is not only fashionable and smart but compassionate and caring as well.

This music lover is an active Instagram user and is always posting her latest looks. Whether, it's a causal or formal look, this fashionista is always dressed to impress.

Nina kindly answered a few of our questions and let us in on her style secrets.

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as bona fide and comfortable. I’m authentic and simple. And that is what I want my style to be and to represent.
What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
With it being winter, I’m obsessed with neck pieces and ponchos. They are a perfect combination to complete your outfit.

Shawl: Truworths
Jeans: Truworths
Shoes: YDE
Bag: Pringle

What is one fashion item you believe every girl should have and why?
Every girl should own at least one body-con dress / skirt. It screams confidence and you can dress it up or down. For both small figured and curvy ladies, it extenuates the waist and body and it makes the curves pop. At the end of the day, we need to love our bodies and appreciate every bone, curve and dimple.
Who would you say is your style inspiration?
To tell you the truth, I don’t follow any specific person’s style. I admire a lot of women. I am mostly inspired by bloggers, I feel like they are more relatable, but I do not have a personal favourite. I make a conscious decision not be influenced by anyone. Every day, I aspire to be my own inspiration. But I do admire people like Amanda Du Pont for her street fashion and I think Nandipha Sekeleni and Sarah Langa are very elegant. Khloe Kardashian’s fashion sense is also on point. I think there are so many women who dress so well and I love and support that. But I have been on a journey of focusing on my uniqueness, and it has been amazing meeting me and my style and inspiring myself to be myself every day.
Who was your first style icon?
On the real, it was and still is my mum. We come from different generations, but she has always taught my sister’s, Khetho (@khetho_lome) and Tania (@tania_lomie), and I, the beauty of always representing yourself well through your clothes. And she doesn’t do it for people. It’s a lifestyle. I saw my first fascinator from her, I learned how not to wear certain clothing items because they age you, I learned how to mix and match colours and most importantly how to dress for your body.
When you can't think of anything to wear, what's your go-to outfit?
Skinny jeans/shorts and a tank top with sneakers in summer. And a black dress is perfect for all occasions.

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Studio W
Shoes: Luella
Bag: Dune
Neck piece: Woolworths

Your favourite beauty/make up product you can't live without?

My lip moisturizer, with matte lipstick. I literally carry them everywhere I go.

Heels? or Flats?

Heels

Dress: Legit
Shoes: Zoom

Finally, what's your favourite quote or any advice you would love to give to our readers?

Find yourself first, fall in love with who you are as a person when you are alone and love your body, literally everything about it. Be your best company. Once you start discovering you, you will find your uniqueness. And you will never need to be validated by someone else, validate your own beauty and uniqueness everyday by refusing to be what people say/ think you are.It is great to have style icons, and to be inspired by people that are doing great, we need those people in our peripheral vision, but run your own race, stay in your lane and look only at where you need to go. You have something beautiful to give to the world by just being you.  You are unique! You are smart! And powerful! You are wonderfully and fearfully created! There is no one like you! Do not allow yourself to be anyone else but you! Lastly, stay humble.

Wow inspiring words Nina! Thanks for sharing your style with us. Below Nina also shared with us a few of her favourite looks.
