H&M Opening in Durban

It's been a year since South Africa saw it's first H&M store open in Cape Town and what better way to celebrate than with a new store.

H&M finally arrived in Durban, with a spectacular grand opening. The store is located at the Galleria Mall; the 2500sqm store covers two levels and offers clothing, sportswear, underwear and accessories for ladies, men, teen and kids. It also boasts a H&M plus department.

Before the grand opening, I was lucky enough to attend a store tour,
where I got to learn more about H&M as a brand as well as about the new store. I was blown away with all the effort the H&M team put in the opening, as well as with the actual store.

Outside the store, the mall was buzzing with anticipation, Over 1500 excited shoppers waited in line to check out the new store. The first customer in line, Nokuthula Shozi arrived at 1am to ensure she would be the first customer to enter the store.

H&M brought in Durban born actress and model, Nomzamo Mbatha, for a special appearance. She hosted an exclusive shopping spree with some of her lucky fans before the opening and entertained customers while they waited in line.

I love shopping at Galleria because of it's relaxed vibe and great range of stores, so I couldn't be happier that H&M opened up so close to me.

The first floor houses menswear and the kids section, which has the cutest selection of clothing for boys, girls and babies. They also had some great opening day specials, H&M also offers great everyday deals, which include 3 for 2 deals on kiddies clothing. It was then down the escalators to check out the ladies section. I like that H&M has a variety of styles, it really has something for everyone.

I really love the H&M conscious initiative, customers are encouraged to bring in their old clothing from any brand to their nearest H&M store and place them in the recycling bins. They are then rewarded with 15% off their purchase. Proceeds from the donated items are either invested into research or donated to Unicef South Africa. The Durban store does not yet have the recycling bins but keep your eyes pealed as they will be arriving in the future.

H&M will open stores at I'langa Mall in Nelspruit and Mall of the North in Polokwane during the first half of 2017.
